Tropical Girl

Description:

Tropical Girl, a successful hunter and jumper show horse, is a 16.1-hand brown Thoroughbred mare by the incomparable South African turf-horse Hawaii. Hawaii was the winner of 15 of 16 races in South Africa before being imported to the U.S. by his owner Charles Englehard (who is reputed to be the inspiration for the character of “Goldfinger” in the James Bond novels). Hawaii won 6 races in the U.S. including the United Nations Cup and the Man ‘O War handicap at Belmont Park where he set a new track record for 1 ½ miles on grass. One of his sons, Henbit, won the 1998 Epsom Derby.
